Dr Hernan Gonzalez-King Garibotti

Senior Research Scientist, Cell Therapy department AstraZeneca, Sweden

Hernan holds a Master’s degree in Biomedical Biotechnology as well as a PhD in Biotechnology, both earned from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. During his doctoral studies, he investigated a novel signalling mechanism within the Notch signalling pathway, facilitated by exosomes. This research delved into its implications within two distinct contexts: cardio-regeneration and breast cancer.

Concurrently, he conducted comprehensive exosome research across various fields such as heart metabolism and neuroinflammation.

From 2020 to 2023, he pursued postdoctoral research centered on exploring the application of extracellular vesicles in cardiac repair at AstraZeneca, located in Gothenburg, Sweden. During this time, he has screened the efficacy of various types of extracellular vesicles in in vitro and in vivo cardiovascular models. Furthermore, he has investigated the loading of cardio-tropic molecules on the surface of extracellular vesicles.

At present, he holds the position of Senior Research Scientist within AstraZeneca’s Cell Therapy department, based in Gothenburg, Sweden.
