As Doctor in Veterinary Medicine, I started my research in cardiac biomarkers from studying animal models at Department of Pathology and Clinical Biochemistry at Copenhagen University Hospital (Rigshospitalet). After my Ph.D. and postdoc, I have been employed at University College Copenhagen (Københavns Professionshøjskole) to build up a research environment at the bachelor’s degree programme in Biomedical Laboratory Science, basically from ground zero. My employment is based on a Danish political decision from 2013 and it has been an exciting venture. So for the last ten years, my main aim have been to change the culture to a more academic and research based education, and by doing so, I have continued my research with a focus on biomedical laboratory science within pathology and clinical biochemistry.
