Dr. Ruusuvuori leads the Bioimage informatics group at Institute of Biomedicine, University of Turku, Finland. Dr. Ruusuvuori received his PhD from Tampere University of Technology, Finland, after which he has done research at Institute for Systems Biology, Seattle, WA, USA, and at University of Jyväskylä and Tampere University in Finland. He has also co-founded a research based start-up.
In his research, Dr. Ruusuvuori focuses on computational method development for biomedical image analysis and bioimage informatics, especially in the areas of cancer research and digital pathology. His ongoing research projects aim at developing modern machine learning based solutions for computational pathology applications, such as for cancer diagnostics, image based molecular profiling, and virtual staining of label-free histology.
