Michael Wierer is the Director of the Proteomics Infrastructure (PRI) located at the University of Copenhagen. Funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, PRI offers state-of-the art proteomics technology to all researchers in the Nordics from academics and industry. In addition to supporting advanced biological projects of any kind, PRI has a strong focus on streamlining and automatizing sample preparation processes to enable large-scale studies such as clinical cohort studies.
Michael holds an MSc degree in Molecular Biotechnology from the Technical University of Munich, Germany and a PhD in Biomedicine from the University Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain. After obtaining his PhD, he has been working as Postdoc and project leader in the group of Matthias Mann at the Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry focusing on proteomic analyses in systems biology and cardiovascular research.
