Guy Buyens (MD) is Medical Director at the Anticancer Fund, a Belgian non-profit organisation with an international scope. Guy obtained his medical degree at the Free university of Brussels, where he would work for several years as a research fellow in physiology. His most relevant experience comes from the pharmaceutical industry (international clinical research in oncology) and biotechnology, but also from hospital management (CEO of a hospital). He joined the Anticancer Fund in 2018.
He is also member of the inequalities network of the European Cancer organisation, where, together with Kathy Oliver, he leads a workgroup on literacy. At the Anticancer Fund he is responsible for My Cancer Navigator, a free of charge service that provides non-judgmental and evidence-based information about cancer treatments to patients who want to make informed decisions together with their treatment team.
