Christian Ruiz is Chief Scientific Officer of Moonlight AI and Professor for Experimental Medicine at the Medical Faculty of the University of Basel.
He holds a PhD from University of Basel and an MBA from the University of St. Gallen. After his postdoctoral fellowship at the Translational Genomics Research Institute in Phoenix (USA), he focused as a research group leader at the University Hospital Basel on the genomic evolution of solid tumors. During the last five years, he was responsible for the diagnostic laboratory department of the Institute of Pathology, which processes more than 100’000 biopsies per year. In 2022, Christian co-founded the startup Moonlight AI to democratize access to predictive genomic information by utilizing artificial intelligence.
